Part of Southwestern Boulevard in Georgetown will be closed until February, with a detour available for drivers to accommodate for construction.

What you need to know

Construction began on Nov. 11 for a project that will transform the road into two lanes with curbs and add a six-foot sidewalk on its east side, according to a city official. Right turn lanes will be added to intersections at Raintree Drive, Davidson Ranch Road and SE Inner Loop, the official said.

The road is closed from University Park Drive to Davidson Ranch Road, but the new road will go from Raintree Drive to SE Inner Loop, the official said.

Traffic on Southwestern Boulevard will be rerouted to use Davidson Ranch Road and University Park Drive, and drivers can also use SE Inner Loop to reach Churchill Farms Drive, which turns into University Park Drive.
