Georgetown City Council approved a change order in the amount of $590,806.19 for additional improvements for the D.B. Wood Road project at a Feb. 27 meeting.

In a nutshell

The change order amended the city’s contract with Jordan Foster, LLC, with the additional funds going toward furnishing and installing an electrical conduit to provide electricity to the proposed Georgetown ISD High School and the city’s lift stations that will be located near Cedar Breaks and D.B. Wood, according to city documents.

The funds will also be used for the construction of an additional driveway to the proposed D.B. Wood lift station, concrete safety barriers to increase safety throughout the construction zone of the project, and the installation of concrete encasement and split encasement to protect the city of Round Rock’s raw waterline, according to city documents.

What else?

The D.B. Wood widening project will widen the road to an undivided four lanes with a shared-use path, according to city documents.

The part of the project from Hwy. 29 to Oak Ridge Road is under construction. The lanes have been shifted west, and crews are working on the east side. Crews are working on stormwater, subgrade and the bridge on the east side of the road, according to city documents.

Construction on the second part of the widening project, from Oak Ridge Road to Williams, is expected to begin in late 2024, after the plan designs are completed, according to city documents.
