Updated Jan. 30 at 12:08 p.m. Due to unexpected circumstances, the event, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 28, was postponed late evening on Jan. 27. The organization is working to set a new date for next month. The local Georgetown office affiliated with Farmers Insurance has collected about 500 gently worn clothing items to donate to service members transitioning out of the armed forces and into civilian life. Farmers Insurance will host a suit distribution event at Fort Hood for over 200 service members as part of the nationwide Suits for Soldiers campaign created by Farmers. As part of the inaugural event for the Georgetown office, local Farmers agents in the Central Texas area gathered suits and clothing items from October to November. Robert Hilton, of Robert Hilton Insurance Agency in Georgetown, which is affiliated with Farmers, said this event was an opportunity to give back to and thank members of the military for their service. "We believe [some of the service members] can have difficulty purchasing suits, and we wanted to help them out in their transition," Hilton said. The event, which will take place at the Main Post Chapel-Activity Center at 31st and Tank Destroyer Boulevard in Killeen, will also provide free on-site tailoring and refreshments.
