Alfonso Longoria was named new principal of Tippit Middle School on Wednesday, Georgetown ISD announced.

Longoria has served as academy director at Kealing Middle School in Austin since 2015, where he was responsible for managing the school’s academy program, including academy staff, professional development and recruitment of students. Prior to that, he served as an assistant principal, teacher and coach in Del Valle, Pflugerville, Round Rock and Leander schools. He has also served as a quality-control coach for the University of Arkansas football team.

“It’s clear that building relationships is important to Alfonso,” said Bryan Hallmark, assistant superintendent for operations and campus leadership. “His knowledge of instruction and ability to lead others stood out during the interview process. We are excited for him to join the team.”

As principal, Longoria will direct and manage all campus operations and lead campus instructional programs to ensure high standards of instruction and student achievement. He begins his new role July 24.

Longoria holds a master's degree in education and community leadership and a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science, both from Texas State University. He lives in Round Rock, where his children are enrolled in school.
