The National Soccer Hall of Fame will induct six new members in spring 2022 including Southwestern University women's coach Linda Hamilton.

Recipient of the Veteran ballot, Hamilton participated in 71 international games including 12 Women's World Cup matches. According to a press release, Hamilton was a key defender on the U.S. team that won the first Women's World Cup in 1991 and also made the roster for the 1995 World Cup tournament.

"I'm overwhelmed, humbled, and very happy to be recognized with such an honor," Hamilton said in the release. "I feel very fortunate to have been a part of such a great time in soccer for the women's game in the United States."

Hamilton started coaching in 1994 and took over the Southwestern program in 2015.
