Erik Bernard was named the new board of president of GTX Film, according to an April 14 news release.

After 14 years as an Army Ranger and Apache helicopter pilot, Bernard began focusing on writing and producing. His screenplays have garnered awards and attention from international festivals and competitions, the release said. He recently executive produced the feature film "Artik" in fall 2019, it said.

"We are thrilled to have Erik at the helm of GTX Film," GTX Film Executive Director Cindy Weigand said in the release. "His energy and our shared vision will add a new dimension to the organization. As an industry professional, his insight will be invaluable to GTX Film, and its annual Georgetown Film Festival and Conference, becoming recognized in the film industry."
