Georgetown home sales increased 7.2 percent year-over-year in September, according to data released today from the Austin Board of Realtors.

Median home prices also increased 5.8 percent to $250,000, according to the information.

Home sales increased in the overall Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Georgetown, despite home sales dipping in the city of Austin, according to the September 2016 Central Texas Housing Market Report released today by ABoR.

Home sales were up 1.3 percent year-over-year across the MSA.

ABoR President Aaron Farmer said more homebuyers are looking outside of the city of Austin for affordable homes.

Housing inventory in Williamson County was 2.4 months in September. Two months is considered a tight market by the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, which suggests a 6-1/2 month inventory is necessary to balance supply and demand for homes, according to data from the ABoR.

Throughout the five counties that make up the Austin-Round Rock MSA, housing inventory is at 2.7 months.
