On May 28, Georgetown City Council unanimously approved a second renewal agreement with C2 Acquisitions, which will oversee the return of the Two Step Inn Festival from 2025-27.

In a nutshell

The renewal slightly altered the original agreement between the city and C2 Acquisitions, which was approved in 2022. Amendments include increasing available tickets from 35,000 to 40,000 per day and requiring the city to invest up to $75,000 in improving temporary cellular connectivity in San Gabriel Park. The agreement continues to reserve up to 20% of the tickets for Georgetown residents.

The details

The second annual Two Step Inn Festival was held April 20-21 and featured three live stages, one DJ stage, and local food, beverage and craft vendors. Roughly 54,000 people attended the two-day event, with approximately 63,000 tickets sold. Around 15,000 Georgetown residents attended, with Williamson County residents comprising the majority of attendees, according to city documents.

The festival boosted the regional economy by $99.7 million, Georgetown Parks and Recreation Director Kimberly Garrett said during her presentation, with food and beverage, hotels, and transportation services as the greatest beneficiaries.

Quote of note

“I had some initial concerns with a long term partnership, but they’ve been a great operator in my experience. I had one complaint, one [negative] email, about this festival which is massively impressive. I think [C2] presented an awesome festival here in town that me and my family have enjoyed for the last several years, and I look forward to continuing the relationship,” District 6 Council Member Jake French said.

Going forward

The renewal agreement sets the dates for the upcoming festivals, with the 2025 festival being held on April 5-6 and the 2026 festival on April 18-19. The dates for the 2027 festival have yet to be determined.

Friends of Georgetown Parks and Recreation will announce the 2024 proceeds in October. The nonprofit uses these funds to support the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department in the form of capital improvements, scholarships and programs.
