Lake Georgetown
The lake’s predominant fish species include bass and catfish. Fishing is available at Cedar Breaks, Jim Hogg and Russell parks around the lake, which is located just west of Georgetown. All parks have on-site restrooms and open at 6:30 a.m. Day visitors pay an entrance fee.
San Gabriel River
Visitors can cast their reels from a number of spots along the San Gabriel River but San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow St., has several access points to the water’s edge.Cool Down
Blue Hole Park
Located at 100 Blue Hole Park Road, the scenic watering hole bordered by limestone bluffs is one of the city’s most popular spots to cool off in warm weather. The park is located along the south fork of the San Gabriel River about five blocks north of Georgetown’s downtown Square along North Austin Avenue.
Downtown Splash Pad
Located next to the Georgetown Art Center just off the Square at 816 Main St., the splash pad features a brick courtyard with water jets embedded in the ground.
San Jose Park
The park, located at 1707 San Jose St., has a variety of play options. A 1,656-square-foot water area has 15 spray features, including a shower tunnel, a post that sprays water in a bell shape, and popcorn jets that shoot water out of the ground.
Williams Drive Pool
The city of Georgetown has five outdoor public swimming pools. At 50 meters in length, the Williams Drive Pool at 3201 Williams Drive is the city’s largest.Hike and Bike
Bicycle Share
Cyclists can explore Georgetown and the city’s miles of biking trails by checking out a bike for free at the Georgetown Visitor Center, 103 W. Seventh St., or the Georgetown Public Library, 402 W. Eighth St.
Berry Springs Park and Preserve
The park, located at 1801 CR 152, features a 2.5-mile trail for biking and hiking as well as pavilions, aquatic and aviary viewing areas, and a fishing platform. The park’s trail will eventually connect to trails maintained by the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department.Kids
Creative Playscape
This unique play area at 1003 N. Austin Ave. includes a history wall and activities that showcase Georgetown’s history from pre-settlement to the growth of modern times.
