Annual Georgetown Veteran’s Day Ceremony

The annual Georgetown Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be taking place at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Georgetown-Williamson County Veteran’s Memorial Plaza, 2 Texas Drive, Georgetown.

The East View High School band, orchestra and choir will provide music beginning at 10:45 a.m., and all veterans and their families in attendance will be recognized during the program, according to a press release.

Fort Hood’s senior enlisted officer Command Sgt. Major Arthur Burgoyne Jr., will be the guest speaker for the event.

Parking is available at the Sun City Social Center at 2 Texas Drive, as well as at the Activities Center at 1 Texas Drive. A limited number of folding chairs will be provided for those in attendance, and guests are welcome to bring a folding chair to sit at the plaza under the trees.


Refreshments on the Social Center Patio will be provided by the Sun City Community Association.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Field of Honor

A Veteran’s Day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in San Gabriel Park at the annual Field of Honor.


Among 1,500 American flags, the ceremony will honor those who returned home from war and those who did not, according to the website. A bell will be rung at 11:11 to commemorate the observance of the signed armistice following the end of World War I, and to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Experience a flyover from the Falcon Flight Team during the ceremony and explore the traveling Vietnam Wall that lines the perimeter of the field. This event is free and open to the public.
