There will be two contested Georgetown City Council races on the May 3 ballot, based on candidacy filings submitted by the Feb. 14 deadline.

Each of the three Georgetown ISD seats up for election will be uncontested, filing information shows.

The details

Five candidates have filed with the city to represent districts 3, 4 and 7 on City Council, according to a news release.

District 3 incumbent Mike Triggs was originally elected in 2019 and did not file for re-election this year. He is finishing out his second term through May, per the city’s website.

Ben Butler and Joe Orsak have filed to fill his District 3 seat.

Meanwhile, incumbent Ron Garland and Dave Richardson have filed to represent District 4.

District 7 council member Ben Stewart is seeking re-election and is running unopposed. According to a city news release, this means that the election for this district will be canceled.

Stewart and Garland were first elected in 2022 after running unopposed, previous Community Impact reporting shows.
