All four propositions in Georgetown’s $130 million bond have passed, according to the unofficial election results.

The big picture

Williamson County has counted all Election Day votes, and propositions A and D still held narrower margins. Final unofficial Election Day results show:
  • 51.05%, or 7,472 votes, are in favor of Proposition A
  • 58.97%, or 8,682 votes, are in favor of Proposition B
  • 67.13%, or 9,893 votes, are in favor of Proposition C
  • 51.46%, or 7,564 votes, are in favor of Proposition D
At $56 million, Prop A makes up nearly half of the bond package, and it will be used for construction of the city’s 80,000-square-foot customer service center.

The $49 million Prop B funding will go toward expanding and renovating the Georgetown Recreation Center on Austin Avenue.

Proposition C—at $15 million—will be used to join and expand the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. However, the proposition is written in a way that also allows an expansion to the city shelter if the regional partnership falls through.

Proposition D for $10 million—the smallest bond on the ballot—would contribute toward construction of an approximately 55,000-square-foot YMCA facility at or near 6200 Williams Drive.

  • 59.63%, or 5,965 votes, are in favor of Proposition B

A closer look

Proposition A would provide $56 million in funding for an 80,000-square-foot customer service facility, which will serve as a “centralized city operations site,” officials said. The building would house a 311 call center and the city’s planning, permitting, engineering and information technology departments.

At $49 million, Proposition B is geared toward a full renovation of the 65,000-square-foot Georgetown Recreation Center on Austin Avenue as well as a 30,000-square-foot expansion of the facility. The expansion would include a dedicated spin classroom, a larger child area with an indoor playground and renovations to the indoor lap pool.

Proposition C allocates $15 million to be used toward the city joining and expanding the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter or expanding the Georgetown Animal Shelter.

If Proposition C passes, it would show stakeholders that Georgetown has the funding to join and expand the regional shelter, city leaders said. However, the proposition is written in a way that also allows an expansion to the city shelter if the regional partnership falls through.

Proposition D would contribute $10 million in funding to the construction of an approximately 55,000-square-foot YMCA facility near 6200 Williams Drive. Amenities would include multipurpose rooms, a pool with recreational options and lap lanes as well as a splash pad.

What else?

Georgetown’s 2023 bond program aims to address the city’s growing population and add facilities to accommodate it. Officials said if the 2023 bond was approved by voters, it would not increase the city’s tax rate.
