Three candidates filed to run for two Georgetown ISD board of trustee positions up for election May 6, according to district documents.

The filing period for those seeking to run for places 4 and 5 on the GISD school board closed Feb. 17.

In the race for Place 4, incumbent Trustee Stephanie Blanck drew one challenger in Marcos Gonzalez.

Gonzalez previously served on the GISD school board from 2018-21, GISD Executive Director for Communications Melinda Brasher said.

The only candidate to file for Place 5 was Anthony Blakenship. Place 5 Trustee Melanie Conner did not file for re-election.

Each member of the school board represents the entire district and is voted on by all GISD residents. They are elected to three-year terms.

The last day to register to vote for the May 6 election is April 6. Early in-person voting will run April 24-May 2.

Georgetown residents will also cast ballots in a city of Georgetown mayoral race, in which incumbent Mayor Josh Schroeder drew one challenger.
