Early voting results from Williamson County show that 81.61% of early voters in Georgetown approved the 0.25% street maintenance sales tax.

Early voting results include ballots cast via mail and in person from Oct. 24-Nov. 4.

If this affirmative result holds, this means one-quarter of 1% of the city’s 8.25% sales tax will be set aside for design, materials and construction of resurfacing projects done by the Public Works Department.

Georgetown voters first approved this tax in 2002 and have reauthorized it every four years since as required by state law. In 2018, the use of the tax received support from more than 80% of Georgetown voters.
The street maintenance sales tax is estimated to generate $6.5 million in revenue in 2022, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

“The election give us the authorization to keep collecting money,” Georgetown Communications Manager Keith Hutchinson previously said. “There has been no change in the rate from when it was put in place 20 years ago.”

This was the only local election on the Georgetown Nov. 8 general election ballot. Other races include those for Williamson County officials, Texas House and Senate seats, state leadership and U.S. House positions.
