8 candidates file to run for Georgetown ISD board of trustees

Eight candidates will be running for three Georgetown ISD board of trustees seats this May.

Place 1 trustee Scott Stribling and Place 3 trustee Andy Webb chose not to run for re-election, while Place 2 trustee Elizabeth McFarland will seek reelection.


The candidate filing period ended Feb. 18. Each board member serves the entire district without compensation for a three-year term of office.

Here are the candidates whose names will appear on the May 1 ballot, including the current occupation listed in their applications.

Place 1

  • James Sherer, business owner

  • Brian Flachs, engineer

  • Eric Lashley, librarian


Place 2


  • Elizabeth McFarland, attorney

  • Allen Brown, retired


Place 3


  • Cody Hirt, business owner.

  • Tania Easton, community educator

  • Eric Marin, consultant


Those elected to these positions will be in office until May 2025.

Hunter Terrell became the reporter for the Georgetown edition in January 2021. After graduating from Valdosta State University in 2018, she started her career as a reporter for the Rockdale Citizen in Conyers, Georgia. In 2021, she became a copyeditor for the Marietta Daily Journal. She also had a part-time job in social media and sales at Alexis Suitcase in Atlanta.
