While neither candidate has made a statement surrounding the current election results, Gleason continues to lead with 56.21% of the vote, according to polling data.

Gleason's opponent and current sheriff Robert Chody has 43.79% of the votes, it said.

A total of
264,728 ballots have been counted.

So far, 45 of 57 polling locations are reporting, it said.


Results are updated as of 11:07 p.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas Election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9, if they were sent from outside the U.S.

Early voting results show Mike Gleason ahead in the race for Williamson County sheriff as ballot counts come in Nov. 3, according to county data.


As of 7 p.m., 3,288 ballots had been counted.

Of the ballots cast in early voting, 139,884 were for Gleason, the Williamson County elections data shows. This accounts for 57% of the total early vote, while his opponent and incumbent Robert Chody has 43% of the vote with 105,510 votes.

Gleason is the Democratic candidate while Chody is the Republican candidate.

The battle for county sheriff has been a contentious one with Chody recently indicted for evidence tampering in the Javier Ambler case, a Black man who died in sheriff's office custody. Chody has maintained his innocence.


Chody also faces a separate legal battle with the county commissioners and his contract dealings with “Live PD” and Big Fish Entertainment LLC.

About 70% of the county voting population participated in early voting, county data shows. Early voting includes in-person, mail, provisional and limited ballots.
