What you need to know
Wes Vanicek, GISD's chief of construction services and future readiness initiatives, said the district's contractors will embark on a 38-month building process in March or April 2025, with completion planned for May 2028.
The school, which is planned to have capacity for 2,250 students, will be built near D.B. Wood Road and Cedar Breaks Road, Vanicek said.
How we got here
In May, GISD voters approved a $649 million bond, spread across four propositions. Proposition A designated $597.4 million to capital improvements, school facilities, safety and security; Proposition B, which allocated $20.33 million to technology and technology infrastructure improvements; Proposition C, which allocated $27.85 million to fine arts facilities improvements; and Proposition D, which allocated $3.86 million to improvements to athletic facilities.
The high school is funded by the $597.4 million approved under Prop A, Vanicek said.

Vanicek said the plot of district-owned land that the high school will be built on also has room for a future middle and elementary school.
