Unused funds from the 2021 bond will be used for several projects across Georgetown ISD, district documents show.

The GISD board of trustees approved the use of remaining bond funds totaling $2.3 million for several projects across the district Nov. 18 as part of its consent agenda.

The details

Per the district, projects to be funded with the remaining bond monies are:
  • Klett Performing Arts Center chiller repair and replacement: $920,000
  • Forbes Middle School entrance vestibule main door replacement: $75,000
  • Village Elementary School thermal blanket pool cover $13,000
  • East View High School speed deterrent devices: $30,000
  • Georgetown High School softball bleacher shade: $163,000
  • East View High School baseball and softball bleacher shade: $337,000
  • Forbes Middle School gym bleacher seat replacement: $45,000
  • Elementary playfield track replacements: $200,000
  • Structural spray and restripe of middle school tracks: $500,000
  • Art table replacements at elementary, middle and high school campuses: $87,275

Bond funds can only be used for capital improvements, such as the purchase of land, construction and maintenance of school facilities, technology, buses and equipment. These funds cannot be used for regular operating expenses, such as salaries or utilities, under state law.
