Georgetown ISD students needing to take over-the-counter medications during the school day will now need signatures from both a parent and medical provider, following a policy update.

What you need to know

The update approved by the district's board of trustees Aug. 19 aligns the district's health services department with best practices per the Nursing Practice Act and Texas Board of Nursing. This update requires both the signatures of a medical provider as well as a parent or guardian for the administration of over-the-counter medications, including:
  • Ibuprofen or acetaminophen
