Five Georgetown ISD facilities will benefit from the use of savings from prior bond referendums to make improvements in the near future.

What you need to know

GISD trustees approved by consent an amount not to exceed $645,000 in savings from previous bonds to make improvements at East View High School, Richarte High School, Cooper Elementary and Forbes Middle School as well as the Hammerlun Center For Leadership and Learning. Some of these funds will also be used to build a structure for support services to allow staff to store equipment away from the elements.

The details

These facilities will receive the following updates and upgrades, per district documents:
  • East View High School: No more than $300,000 will be used to make improvements to the main lobby, corridor and cafeteria areas with fresh paint, flooring replacements and upgrades to LED lighting.
  • Hammerlun Center For Leadership and Learning: No more than $100,000 will be used to make plumbing repairs to restrooms in the cafeteria area.
  • Richarte High School: No more than $45,000 will be used to renovate classrooms at this campus for use by Georgetown High School in the 2024-25 school year. Richarte will relocate to the Future-Ready Learning Center when it opens this fall.
