Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that all employees will receive the 2% raise, and clarify who will qualify for stipends.

Increases to teacher and librarian pay are coming to Georgetown ISD in the 2024-25 budget year, after trustees approved a compensation plan that includes a 3.5% increase to salaries for those employees.

That increase equates to about $2,100 and raises the base salary for a first-year teacher to $56,500.

In a nutshell

Trustees approved on May 20 a compensation plan that incorporated recommendations based on a Texas Association of School Boards study of the district's compensation and how it compares to other districts. The study came with a set of recommendations for adjustments to the district's pay structure, including the improvement of starting salaries or adopting a general pay increase, as well as converting incentive payments to stipends for hard-to-fill positions, such as special education and bilingual roles.

The details

Per the compensation plan approved by trustees, in addition to the 3.5% raise for teachers and librarians, all other employees will receive a 2% raise at the midpoint of their paygrade.
