Georgetown ISD will observe Bike and Roll to School Day on May 8, encouraging students to take a more active commute to school on that day.

What you need to know

In partnership with the city of Georgetown, GISD is participating in the national event promoted by The National Center for Safe Routes to School. The organizations's Bike and Roll events encourage healthier habits for students participating as well as promote driver safety.

School staff and members of the Georgetown police and fire departments will be present in school zones to promote safety during the event, per the district.

“We are excited to have students embrace active commuting on Bike and Roll to School Day,” Superintendent Devin Padavil said in an announcement for the event. “It’s an opportunity to work closely with our local public safety officials and educate the community on safety awareness in school zones.”
