Georgetown ISD will hold a board election this May, with two at-large positions on the board of trustees up for re-election. These positions are currently held by Dr. Stephen Benold and Jen Mauldin.

What you need to know

The filing deadline to run for the board of trustees was Feb. 16, and two candidates will be on the ballot in May.

GISD trustees are at-large representatives and will serve out three-year terms once elected.

The following candidates will be on the ballot May 4 for Place 6:
  • Jen Mauldin
  • Aaron Smith
A drawing to determine in which order candidates will appear on the ballot will be held by Feb. 26, in accordance with state law.

According to district staff, Stacy McLaughlin filed for the seat occupied by Benold, Place 7. Benold did not file for another term, and confirmed to Community Impact that he will depart from the board of trustees when his term ends in May.

As previously reported by Community Impact, Benold is the third member of his immediate family to serve on the school board, as his father, Dr. Douglas Benold, and his wife, Nancy Benold, preceded him.
