The Georgetown ISD board of trustees approved a contract with SSC Services for Education to outsource custodial services at all GISD elementary school campuses at its Aug. 15 meeting.

According to the agreement, services are not to exceed $2.5 million.

Kirby Campbell, Georgetown ISD's executive director of support services, expressed his concern of lack of staff at a previous meeting.

"Georgetown ISD has not been immune to the staffing shortages not only in custodial services but in many other support roles," Campbell said July 18.

Campbell previously reported to the board that a request for proposal, or RFP, for elementary school custodial services was submitted in time for the 2022-23 school year. The RFP includes staffing, supplies and equipment.

According to Campbell, seven proposals ranging from $1.8 million-$2.7 million were submitted.

Headquartered in Knoxville, Tennesee, SSC Services for Education offers a variety of specialized help in custodial services, facility maintenance, grounds management and construction management.
