In a partnership with Georgetown ISD, the Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association will host a Back to School supply drive Aug. 6 from 9-11 a.m. at the old Carver Elementary School location, 1200 W. 17th St., Georgetown.

GCCMA President and retired Georgetown educator Paulette Taylor said she expects to have around 300 backpacks filled with classroom essentials.

Taylor also said any leftover supplies will be given away Aug. 13.

"We will have an abundance of school supply on hands to accommodate for our families," Taylor said. "This is more than about our children; it is about our community."

Taylor said the GCCMA has held a school supply drive to support GISD for the last 10 or 15 years.

In a release, GISD stated there is no eligibility required.

Additionally, because of high temperatures, it is a drive-thru event.
