The Georgetown ISD board of trustees announced three new hires at a monthly board meeting June 20.

Alfonso Longoria has been named East View High School principal. Sue Harrison has been named executive director of human resources, and Kim Garcia has been named executive director of technology.

Longoria serves as the principal of Tippit Middle School. According to the district, Longoria enters the new role at East View High School with 20 years of experience in public school education, over a decade of which has been spent as a campus administrator.

In his new role, Longoria will be responsible for leading and supporting actions that support the mission of GISD and advance East View High School, according to the district.

An additional release from the district stated that Garcia enters her new role with 20 years of education experience in GISD, where she has served as a teacher, a coordinator and presently as director of digital learning.


In her new role, she will be responsible for leading the technology department and ensuring processes align with the district’s strategic framework, according to the release.

Harrison has more than 15 years of human resources experience and serves as GISD director of human resources, according to the release.

In her current role, Harrison created and managed the accommodation process for teachers who wanted to work remotely during the pandemic. Harrison also managed the COVID-19 reporting and leave process for the past two years, with over 1,200 employees contacted in the 2020-21 school year and approximately 600 for the 2021-22 school year, according to the release.

GISD reported that Longoria, Garcia and Harrison will step into their new roles July 1.
