Final graduation plans are still in the works as Georgetown ISD and its three high schools look to hold an in-person graduation, Georgetown ISD Superintendent Fred Brent said in a May 5 update to parents.
Brent said after hearing Gov. Greg Abbott's May 5 announcement, he believed a stadium graduation ceremony could be possible as early as June 1, "with very specific conditions in place like participant screening and appropriate social distancing." He added that district staff is reviewing options now.
GISD is also hosting a parade through the Georgetown Square for all graduating seniors. The parade will be held May 29 at 9 a.m.
"Our intention is to celebrate our seniors to the fullest extent possible," Brent said. "We are as anxious as you are to get these plans firmed up. We will keep you informed as they evolve."
