Jordan Vierra was named the new Georgetown High School baseball head coach, according to a July 17 news release.
Vierra graduated from Georgetown High and played for Tyler Junior College and The University of Texas at Tyler, the release said. He started his coaching career at UT-Tyler and later coached for the Alaska Baseball League, Tyler Junior College, New York Collegiate League and Round Rock ISD before returning to Georgetown, where he has served as a freshman football coach, as well as freshman baseball coach and assistant varsity baseball coach, it said.
Vierra has served on the coaching staff that led the team to three consecutive district titles and this year’s second place finish in the state championship, the release said.
He will begin his new role as head coach immediately, it said.
