The Georgetown ISD board of trustees authorized Superintendent Fred Brent to enter final negotiations on the purchase of land for a new middle school during its April 15 meeting.

The property will be approximately 35 acres and located in the northwest quadrant of the district, said David Biesheuvel, GISD executive director of Construction and Development.

Biesheuvel said the board approving the agenda item does not mean the district is obligated to complete the purchase, and he will return to the board for final approval of the purchase once due diligence is made.

“We’re at a point now (in the process) where serious negotiations need to begin,” Biesheuvel said.
