Georgetown ISD will host a series of enrollment sessions in early May for parents and guardians with children ready to start prekindergarten and kindergarten in the 2018-19 school year.

Parents must attend enrollment sessions at schools with their children’s attendance zones, according to GISD. The district has additional information about attendance zones on its website.

Enrollment sessions will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at Cooper, Frost, Ford, Village and McCoy elementary schools.

Sessions will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m on Wednesday, May 9, at Carver, Mitchell, Purl and Pickett elementary schools.

There are several exceptions for some pre-K and bilingual or dual-language students:

  • Regular pre-K students zoned to attend McCoy can enroll at Frost.

  • Pre-K students zoned to attend Ford can enroll at Village.

  • Bilingual or dual-language kindergarten students zoned to attend Frost, Ford, and McCoy can enroll at Village.

  • Bilingual pre-K students zoned to attend Pickett can enroll at Purl.

Children living within the district’s attendance zones must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2018, to be eligible for free, full-day kindergarten.

For prekindergarten, children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, and meet additional criteria. More information is available online from the Texas Education Agency.

To enroll their children, parents must complete an online application and then present a series of documents along with a set of copies to leave with registrars at the in-person enrollment sessions:

  •  An original, certified birth certificate

  • Social Security card (if available)

  • Driver's license or photo ID for parent or guardian registering the student

  • Current immunization record

  • Proof of residency in GISD’s attendance zones, either through a rental agreement, utility bill, property tax statement or signed purchase contract)

  • A withdrawal form from a previous school district if transferring to GISD from a different Texas school

  • Most recent report card and transcripts if the student is transferring from another school

Pre-K enrollment may require additional documentation based on TEA regulations.
