Tim Cobb was named the new vice president for integrated communications for Southwestern University on June 29.

Cobb most recently worked as the senior marketing strategist and creative director at DHX advertising in Portland, Oregon. Cobb, who starts at Southwestern on July 18, has worked for more than 20 years in marketing strategy and management.

“Tim Cobb is the quintessential leader for this very impactful role at Southwestern,” President Edward Burger said in a statement. “His experience in managing and directing marketing and communications teams, coupled with a deep understanding of branding and marketing in higher education, will bring a confluence of unparalleled expertise to Southwestern.”

Cobb has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in marketing and a minor in psychology from Oregon State University, as well as a master’s degree in management from Purdue University.

Cobb said his work with universities throughout his career drove his interest in higher education.

“I am honored and look forward to joining the Southwestern community,” Cobb said in a statement. “Southwestern offers a new and innovative educational journey designed for the modern world, [and] an ideal institution for individuals who believe that in college, career, and in life—we are better together.”
