New restaurant and bar Camp Briteside opened in west Georgetown in early September.

The brew court and meatery serves a range of American food entrees, including chicken-fried steak as well as shrimp and grits, alongside appetizers, desserts, and a full bar of cocktails, wine and beer.

The restaurant features a stage for live music, a wiffle ball field and 18,000 square feet of artificial grass for children to play on.

“What we really want it to be as a place for families to come out, completely disconnect from their busyness of life and reconnect as families,” said co-owner Cody Hirt, who serves on the Georgetown ISD board of trustees.

What’s in a name

Camp Briteside's name is inspired by former local philanthropists George and Barbara Brightwell, Hirt said. The business’s name is also intended to raise awareness for the Ride On Center for Kids, which offers its Camp Bright Side horse riding summer camp each year, he said.

About the owners

The business is owned by Hirt alongside Troy Hellmann, Brad Strittmatter, Brady Clark, Tommy McCormick and Tim Carr, all of whom founded Gold Burger Diner, which opened in July. Hirt and some of his partners also own The Golden Rule, Mesquite Creek Outfitters, and River and Ranch Provisions.
