The Human Bean, a drive-thru coffee chain, opened in Georgetown in late March.

The coffee shop serves hot, iced and blended coffee beverages; tea; energy drinks; smoothies; and food, including breakfast sandwiches, bagels, cookies and cake pops. The Georgetown location features a walk-up order window and drive-thru with no indoor seating.

What’s on the menu

Some of the shop's most popular drinks are the Snowy, a white chocolate beverage; a chocolate and cinnamon drink known as the Mexi; and the blended espresso, owner Chevonne Johst said. Many of the drinks are customizable, with over 50 different flavors offered. All drinks are topped with a chocolate-covered espresso bean, excluding beverages for children.

The backstory

The Georgetown franchise is locally owned and operated by Johst and her husband, Darren Johst, who hope to open more locations in the area, Johst said. The business is focused on supporting local causes through giveaways with an upcoming event April 22 for Earth Day, she said.

The Human Bean was founded in southern Oregon and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023. The company has hundreds of locations across the country, including one in Pflugerville.
