Cedar Park-based Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill is set to open a Georgetown location at 212 W. Seventh St., Georgetown, next to Pinot’s Palette. This will be the second location for the restaurant, which serves Southwestern cuisine, including blue crab-stuffed chicken, pulled pork enchiladas and margaritas. 

The latest

Although a concrete date has not been set, restaurant officials said they are expecting to open in the Georgetown area sometime in July. The Cedar Park location will still remain open as well.

What’s next 

As of early January, Blue Corn officials said work had not begun on the building located off the Square. Officials also said they are in the process of meeting with designers and architects, and the construction will include adding a kitchen and decor specific to its style.

2.Noble Sandwich Co.

Noble Sandwich Co. Noble Sandwich Co. is set to open its third Austin-area location in the former Scentchips building.[/caption]

What we reported

Austin-based eatery Noble Sandwich Co. announced in August it would add a Georgetown location on the Square. The restaurant, which will move into the former Scentchips location at 112 W. Eighth St., Georgetown, offers specialty breakfast and lunch sandwiches.

The latest

The announcement follows a larger trend of restaurants and businesses moving to the Square. In addition to expansions at Sweet Lemon Inn & Kitchen and 600 Degrees Pizzeria & Drafthouse, the historic Stromberg-Hoffman Building is undergoing renovations, and owners Karl and Dina Meixsell said they plan to bring a restaurant concept to the first floor.

What’s next

The owner of the building that will house the third Noble Sandwich location on the Square, Chet Garner, said the restaurant is expected to open in the spring.

3. DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks

DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks Construction began in December on a DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks, which will go into the former Albertsons location.[/caption]

In August it was confirmed that a DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks location was coming to the Georgetown area. Located inside the old Albertsons building at 610 N. Austin Ave., Georgetown, the restaurant offers offer specialty pizzas, Peproni Rolls, stromboli and desserts as well as beer and wine.

The latest

The franchise owner of the pizza place’s Georgetown location  initially planned to open in December or January, but said construction had been delayed and was set to begin in December. 

What’s next

Construction began in December, and the restaurant is expected to open in late March. Several other businesses, including House of Gainz and The Golf Ranch, have also opened in the same location.

4. The Hollow

The Hollow As of December, The Hollow is offering both Sunday brunch and an expanded menu in its bar and cocktail lounge.[/caption]

What we reported

The Hollow, located at 708 S. Austin Ave., Georgetown, reopened under new ownership in early September after temporarily closing. While the restaurant was closed it underwent renovations. Executive Chef Jacob Hilbert continues to run the kitchen and serve as chef.

The latest

The restaurant is offering Sunday brunch as of Nov. 20 and has been renovated to include upgraded dining areas. The bistro features brunch items, such as quiche, crepes, its take on eggs Benedict and a bloody mary bar from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The restaurant’s bar and cocktail lounge reopened Dec. 3 and features an expanded menu. 

What’s next

Restaurant officials said they offer cooking classes one night a month with Hilbert and will continue to expand and change both its dinner and brunch menu, including adding specialty holiday menus.

5. Eats on 8th

Eats on 8th After a fire Dec. 17, Eats on 8th remains closed, but officials plan on reopening it.[/caption]  

What we reported

Eats on 8th, located just off the Square at 204 E. Eighth St., Georgetown, is under new ownership as of October. The farm-to-table restaurant with a take on classic American and Southern foods serves lunch, dinner as well as brunch on the weekends.

The latest

Eats on 8th was the site of a fire after an issue with faulty water heaters Dec. 17. The restaurant remains closed. 

What’s next

Eats on 8th officials said the restaurant was insured and they plan to repair and renovate as soon as possible.
