Texas-based health care organization Ascension Seton announced a groundbreaking ceremony for a new facility in Georgetown on Sept. 29.

According to the announcement from the Ascension public relations department, the facility will be approximately 60,000 square feet and will include a special outpatient surgery center.

The facility will also be equipped with more than 300 parking spaces and is located on 12.04 acres within the Wolf Lakes Village development, according to the approved site plans submitted to the Georgetown Planning and Zoning commission in June.

“We are proud to expand multidisciplinary expertise in this growing community at Ascension Seton Health Center Georgetown,” said Andy Davis, president and CEO of Ascension Texas, in the announcement. “As we celebrate 120 years of service, Ascension Seton will continue to focus on ways to meet the health care needs of Central Texans and be a destination for high-quality care provided by experienced specialists.”

Other specialties offered will include outpatient and women's imaging, cardiovascular care, gastroenterology, orthopedics, dermatology and reconstructive surgery.

The announcement of the Georgetown health center follows other recent expansions from Ascension Seton, including a new pediatric hospital, Dell Children’s Medical Center North in Austin and a new women's tower on the Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin campus.

Ascension is one of the leading nonprofit health systems in the U.S., operating 142 hospitals and more than 40 senior living facilities. www.ascension.org
