Williamson County added 121 new coronavirus cases between April 15-18, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 38,140, according to Williamson County and Cities Health District data.

The county also added one death, bringing the total to 462.

Counted deaths are of those who have COVID-19 listed as a direct cause of death on the death certificate. The total does not include deaths of people who had COVID-19 but died of an unrelated cause, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services dashboard. This method may delay reporting by weeks or even months due to paperwork, county health officials have said.

Williamson County continues to be in the orange phase of community spread, which indicates high spread level. Local health officials still recommend individuals wear a mask and maintain 6 feet of distance from those not in their household.

According to the dashboard, 30.39% of Williamson County residents are fully vaccinated, and 48.02% have received at least one shot.

In addition, about 17% of COVID-19 hospital beds are available, and 14% of COVID-19 ICU beds are available, it said.

The seven-day rolling positive rate, or the rate at which tests for the coronavirus return positive, is 7.05%.
