The city of Georgetown will host a blood drive Sept. 16 for We Are Blood, the nonprofit community blood supplier for Central Texas.

The event will be held 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the bus parking area at the Georgetown Recreation Center, 1003 N. Austin Ave.

“We Are Blood is incredibly grateful to the Georgetown community for their lifesaving blood donations and to our friends at the Georgetown Recreation Center who make this blood drive possible," said Nick Canedo, vice president of community engagement. "Every blood donation made protects vulnerable patients in need right here in Central Texas.”

Appointments can be scheduled through the We Are Blood website, or by calling at 512-206-1242 or 512-206-1266.

Walk-ins are welcome; appointments will be prioritized.

We Are Blood requires that donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 115 pounds and be in good health.

Donors must show a valid, government-issued photo ID and eat a meal two to three hours prior to donating.
