The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department will host its fifth annual K-9 Kerplunk event Sept. 17 at the Georgetown Recreation Center outdoor pool, according to a release from the city.

The fur-friendly event will start at 10 a.m. and conclude at noon.

According to Melissa Pecorino, Georgetown's marketing and community engagement program manager, the event originated back in 2017 at the request of the Georgetown’s then mayor, and it has been very popular year after year.

Registration is $5 per dog and free for dog owners.

Additionally, to ensure safety for the dogs and their humans, event registration has a maximum capacity of 100 dogs.

"We do anticipate that the event will sell out quickly, as it has in previous years," Pecorino said.

Online rules and registration is available at www.parks.georgetown.org/k-9kerplunk.
