The city of Georgetown announced in its April 7 newsletter the installment of its first street mural outside the Georgetown Public Library.

The mural design was completed by artist and reference librarian Joshua Marcias.

The crosswalk project will cost $12,500 and will be funded by the downtown tax increment reinvestment zone, or TIRZ.

During installation, a section of Eighth Street between Martin Luther King Jr. and Forest streets will be closed April 12 from 9-11 a.m. and April 13 from 9 a.m.-noon.
