Traffic on Austin Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets in downtown Georgetown will be reduced to a single lane in each direction Monday and Friday due to construction at the Lockett Building, located at Austin Avenue and Seventh Street on the Square, according to the city. Lane closures will be in effect from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday. Traffic signs and barricades will direct Austin Avenue traffic through open lanes during those times. The closures are necessary to allow enough space for a crane to be used to replace a heating and air conditioning unit from the Lockett Building, according to the city. An existing unit will be removed from the building’s rooftop Monday, and a replacement unit will be lifted onto the roof Friday.
