At Thursday night's Austin Avenue bridges open house Georgetown transportation officials presented
five different options for the Austin Avenue Bridges project, including one no-build option.
Twelve preliminary alternatives were originally shared that were then narrowed down to five primary alternatives as identified by the city and previous public input.
The ultimate goal of the project is to identify a long-term plan for the Austin Avenue bridges by evaluating possible alternatives to address structural, community, and mobility needs, ultimately developing a preferred alternative for the bridges that were constructed in 1939.
Following this third public meeting, the city said additional analysis on the alternatives will be completed to narrow down options to a preferred alternative that will be presented at a fourth public meeting expected in late 2017 or early 2018.
Residents can find project and public meeting materials as well as submit feedback on the city
website.
