Georgetown City Council meeting
Tue., Feb. 14

Georgetown City Council will hold a workshop Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at 101 E. Seventh St., Georgetown, to discuss updates to the 2017 Transit Work Plan and Downtown West project. The council will also meet for its regular meeting at 6 p.m.

Real Estate Agent Workshop

The city of Georgetown and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce are hosting the first Real Estate Agent Workshop.

The purpose of the event is to equip real estate professionals and those interested in real estate with the information they need to know to effectively market Georgetown to homebuyers. Information tables will also be staffed by representatives from:

  • Georgetown ISD

  • Georgetown Chamber of Commerce

  • Southwestern University

  • St. David’s Georgetown Hospital

  • The city of Georgetown Police and Fire departments

  • The city of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department

  • Visitors Center

  • Georgetown Utility Systems

  • The city of Georgetown Development Services, including Economic Development, Building Inspections and Planning


Coffee and breakfast will be provided by the event sponsor, Wolf Ranch by Hillwood Communities. Scheduled speakers include Hugh Brown, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital CEO, Mayor Dale Ross and Georgetown ISD Superintendent Fred Brent.

Meals on Wheels volunteer opportunities

Williamson & Burnet Counties Meals on Wheels has several openings for volunteers from its Williamson County delivery centers.

Meals on Wheels delivers fresh, nutritious midday meals weekdays to homebound seniors and is in need of volunteer drivers in Cedar Park, Hutto, Taylor, Coupland and Thrall. Delivery routes require just 90 minutes, one or more days per week.

Georgetown Youth Soccer League


Registration is now open for the Georgetown Parks and Recreation 2017 Spring Youth Soccer League for boys and girls ages 4-14.

The recreational league is open to athletes of all skill levels. Children will get to experience being part of a team. The season runs from March 18-May 13. All games take place on Saturdays at the San Gabriel Soccer Fields next to the Georgetown Recreation Center, located at 1003 N. Austin Ave.

Fees are $50 for Georgetown residents and $60 for nonresidents.

Citizen Police Academy


The Citizen Police Academy is an eight-week course taught by police officers to educate citizens about all aspects of the Georgetown Police Department.

Classes in the spring 2017 academy include code of criminal procedure, accident investigations, use of force, crime scene investigations, hostage negotiations, special weapons and tactics, and victim services.

The deadline to apply is March 18.
