McNabb is expected to start Feb. 18. City Council selected McNabb from more than 40 candidates after a nationwide search conducted by Strategic Government Resources, according to a city news release. McNabb previously served a total of 27 years in the city of El Paso, including 10 years as city attorney there, according to the release. “We are extremely fortunate to have recruited a city attorney who has the extensive knowledge, experience and proven leadership skills that Charlie brings to the table,” Mayor Dale Ross said in a statement. “I am confident that he will help take the city attorney’s office to a new level of excellence.” McNabb will replace Bridget Chapman, who resigned in December. McNabb earned his doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Univeristy of Houston Law Center, studied graduate law and history at Rice University and earned his bachelors degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.
