Georgetown Fundraising for a statue of Dan Moody on the Square kicked off Sept. 4.
City Council approved matching funds up to $25,000 and a fundraising deadline of Sept. 30, 2016.

The Williamson Museum will lead the effort to raise money and secure placement for the statue, said museum Executive Director Mickie Ross.

Moody convicted four members of the Ku Klux Klan in the Williamson County Courthouse in 1923 and later became the youngest governor of Texas.
