Ralph Gracie Georgetown opened Oct. 18, providing Brazilian jiujitsu classes to Georgetown and the nearby community.

The academy offers gi, or uniformed, and no-gi classes for children and adults, along with a free week trial for people interested in starting Brazilian jiujitsu, a Ralph Gracie Georgetown official said.

About the owners

Owned by husband and wife John and Bethany Simas, the studio incorporates fighting techniques from Ralph Gracie, a Brazilian mixed martial artist. John has taught Brazilian jiujitsu for 15 years, and serves as the academy's head instructor, according to Ralph Gracie Georgetown’s website.
