When ReImagine Vintage Furniture Boutique owner Nettie Castillo was asked what got her into the antique business, her answer was almost immediate: “I guess you have to be born with [a love for antiques].”

To find the items sold at ReImagine, Castillo said she spends a lot of her time going junking and attending auctions throughout the state, including in Houston and Austin.

Items from dressers and chairs to antique chandeliers are for sale at ReImagine, and Castillo said her furniture typically has a quick turnaround.

“The pieces sell right away,” Castillo said. “We [have to] restock every week.”

Although most of Castillo’s pieces feature warm earth tones, the occasional pop of color is available as well.

Castillo not only buys furniture at auctions, but she also has her own vision for refinishing vintage-style furniture.

Castillo said she spends time each week refurbishing and painting furniture herself.

Although Castillo said her favorite design style is French provincial, her store is filled with pieces that aim to appeal to a wider variety of tastes.

“You can’t cater to yourself; you have to cater to the world. I have a little bit of everything [in my store] now,” Castillo said.

Castillo said she now has five other vendors from throughout the area and state displaying their collections in her store, including Re-Styles Austin, which is based in Taylor.

Re-Styles co-owners Chris Espinoza and Shannon Grace said their items have been in the store for about a month and that they enjoy working with and learning from Castillo.

“She is a great businesswoman,” Espinoza said. “[Castillo] has really taught us some things because we are new to the business.”

Castillo, who moved to Georgetown from California, said her children in the military brought her to the area. ReImagine opened in 2010, but it was previously located on Williams Drive. Castillo moved into her location at 1006 S. Austin Ave. in 2013 and said she is happy in the Georgetown area sharing her stock with the community.

“Along the years and along the way, I experimented with different things and just enjoy [antiques] very much,” Castillo said.
