Georgetown's water conservation team has issued a call for action from local artists.

The team will host its first annual painted rain barrel project that will be an element in this year's October Art Stroll.

According to Georgetown Marketing Coordinator Mallory Tallas, the rain barrels will be placed around downtown Georgetown to be auctioned off to community members, with most proceeds going to education and outreach efforts.

The conservation team and Georgetown's Arts and Culture board will select 10 finalists from the total number of submissions.

Artists will be notified on final selections by Sept. 16.

Additionally, artists will receive 40% of the total profits collected from the rain barrel auction.

Applications can be found at https://artsgeorgetown.submittable.com/Submit and must be turned in by Aug. 31.

Rain barrel installations will be conducted by Oct. 10. For full submission guidelines, visit Call for Artist Entries Painted Rain Barrel Project.
