H-E-B, 2000 S. RR 620, Lakeway, hosted Amplify Lake Travis on March 8 at the grocery store’s Table 620 restaurant.

The annual event is the brainchild of Sandy Cox, Amplify Lake Travis chairwoman and Lakeway City Council member, who said she patterned the project two years ago after the larger Amplify Austin to raise funds for local nonprofit organizations.

“[Amplify Lake Travis] is an opportunity to come out and know the charities that make up this community,” Cox said.

Last year, the inaugural event drew four nonprofit groups, and this year’s turnout included eight organizations: Colin’s Hope, Help Our Wounded, Lake Travis Education Foundation, Lake Travis Labor of Love, Lake Travis Youth Association, Spicewood Arts Society, TexArts and Youth2Seniors.

“We’re seeing donors who know TexArts going over to the Help Our Wounded [booth] and getting to know them,” Cox said. “We’ve doubled our size this year, and hopefully we will double the impact.”

As a result of the program, the participating nonprofit charities raised a total of $62,000 during the event’s 24 hours, LTlov President Michelle Zogas said.
