2. This fall, Northwest Austin-based Breath of Life Maternity Ministries, 13170-G Pond Springs Road, Ste. 7, will reopen its maternity home, Sarah’s House, in Central Austin. The home assists women age 18 and older who are in need of a place to stay after finding out they are pregnant. 5. In June, Austin Community College was one of five colleges nationwide to receive a grant from the AARP Foundation to start a Back to Work at 50+ program designed to help women find jobs. The program’s curriculum is structured around the 7 Smart Strategies for Job Seekers program, and participants are also assigned a personal coach. The program is free but income-based on participants being at 200 percent or below the federal poverty level. 7. Rundberg Rising, a volunteer-run group sponsored through nonprofit Austin Creative Alliance, is partnering with the Love North Austin blog to create a mural at McBee Elementary School.
