Lit in green LED lighting, Higher Ground Bar & Lounge will open Nov. 6 in the space above
Lone Star Grille & Bubba's Backyard at 1501 E. New Hope Drive, Cedar Park.
The ultra lounge bar will be open Thu.-Sat. 5 p.m.-2 a.m. and will offer small plates, appetizers, cocktails, beer and wine. Higher Ground’s menu will differ from Lone Star Grille’s downstairs, but small plates are similar in concept, General Manager Daniel Brewster said.

Inside, patrons can sit at bar tables or play shuffleboard or electronic darts. The bar’s outdoor patio offers leather lounge seating and a smoking area.
“It’ll be a very club-like atmosphere just like you’d have downtown but you won’t have to take a $55 cab ride to get there,” Brewster said.
Brewster and
Lone Star Grille owner Rick Redmond said the concept was driven by catering to people working in the restaurant industry who are looking for somewhere to hang out after work.
“The design is to appeal to a whole genre of people,” Brewster said, adding that Lone Star Grille already appeals to families and the bar will appeal to an additional demographic.
“It’ll look very upscale, but it’ll be very approachable. [People] will be comfortable in a T-shirt and jeans,” Brewster said.
After Lone Star Grille closes for the evening, patrons can enter the bar through the outdoor staircase located to the left of Lone Star Grille's main entrance. For more information about Higher Ground, visit
